The story behind the Well Now way.

When I retired after more than 30 years of teaching, I thought I was simply beginning a new chapter.
What I didn't expect was that retirement would lead me to ask some deeper questions.
Who am I now?
What is God calling me to in this season?
And perhaps the biggest question of all -
Why do I want to be healthy?
For years, I'd been passionate about fitness and helping women become stronger. But I began to realize that if I was going to embrace whatever God had planned next, I would need more than healthy habits.
I would need strength, energy, resilience, peace, and purpose.
As I prayed and reflected, one simple truth began to emerge.
Wellness isn't the destination.
Wellness is preparation.
God wasn't calling me to pursue health simply for the sake of being healthy.
He was preparing me to live out the purpose He still had for my life.
That realization changed the way I looked at every healthy habit.
Movement wasn't just exercise.
Food wasn't just nutrition.
Sleep wasn't simply about rest.
Every daily choice became part of preparing myself to love well, serve well, and live faithfully.
Wellness isn't the destination. Wellness is preparation.
As I continued learning about nutrition, lifestyle medicine, habit formation, stress management, sleep, and behaviour change, I noticed something remarkable.
None of these areas stand alone.
Our physical, mental, emotional, relational, and spiritual well-being are beautifully connected.
When one area struggles, the others often feel it too.
And when we begin making small, intentional changes in one area, those changes often ripple into every other part of our lives.
That's when I stopped thinking about wellness as a collection of separate habits and began seeing it as one connected whole.

Around the same time, I noticed something in my fitness classes.
Women weren't just coming to exercise. We talked about caring for aging parents.
We talked about busy schedules, changing bodies, stress, relationships, purpose, and trying to find balance in everyday life.
Many women didn't need more information. They were overwhelmed.
There were too many diets.
Too many rules.
Too many programs promising quick fixes.
I wanted to offer something different.
Not another rigid plan to follow.
But a simple framework that brings all the pieces of wellness together in a way that's practical, encouraging, and sustainable.
That's how the Live Well Circle was born.

At the center is Abide Well—because I believe everything begins with our identity and relationship with God.
From that foundation comes Live With Purpose—understanding that we care for ourselves so we can fully live the life God has called us to live.
From there flow five simple daily practices:
Move Well
Eat Well
Sleep Well
Rest Well
Connect Well
And surrounding those practices are three support systems that help us stay consistent:
Think Well
Plan Well
Dwell Well
Together they create a simple, grace-filled approach to healthy living.
Not perfection. Just faithful progress.
Why do you want to be healthy?
Not simply what do you want to change...
But who do you hope your health will help you become?
"Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." — 1 Corinthians 10:31
Eat Well: Why Knowing What to Do Isn't Always Enough
We'll begin exploring the first daily practice of the Live Well Circle and discover how healthy habits become easier when they're supported by purpose, mindset, planning, and our environment.
When I retired, I never imagined that asking one simple question,
"Why do I want to be healthy?" , would lead to creating the Live Well Circle.
If you're asking some of those same questions, I'd love to walk alongside you.
Each month I share practical wellness tools, reflections, and encouragement to help you take one faithful step at a time.
